The Lusaka District Health Office has called on the media to publish messages on the Human Papilloma Virus- HPV vaccination program being conducted in schools and health facilities.
Lusaka District Director Health Services ASTRIDAH MASEKA says health personnel still face various challenges in communities as they carry out health services.
She says this is why the District Health Office is engaging the media to highlight the benefits of the HPV vaccines to ensure that parents and guardians give consent for the vaccine to be given to their children in schools.
Speaking during the media engagement meeting in Lusaka today, Dr MASEKA said HPV vaccination is among the country’s interventions to prevent cervical cancer.
She has also encouraged parents and guardians to take their girl children for vaccination to any public health facility in the country.
The Ministry of Health launched the HPV vaccination program to be conducted in schools and health centers from September 25 to September 29, 2023.
