A 20 year old man of Chama District in Eastern Province has committed suicide after his family stopped him from marrying his own cousin.
EZRON KUMWENDA of Bonga Village hanged himself to a tree using a mosquito net on Thursday around 19:00hrs.
Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer KAUNDA MUBANGA says the deceased was dating his first cousin aged 19 years and when they decided to get married, the two families refused.
Mr. MUBANGA says the decision by the two families angered the now deceased who committed suicide and left a note stating that life was not worth living without his cousin as a wife.
In a statement to ZNBC news, Mr. MUBANGA says Police visited the scene of the suicide and relatives were advised to bury the body as both relatives and Police do not suspect any foul play.
