A 35-year-old man of Kabanana compound in Lusaka has been hit by a Goods Train.
GILBERT KAPENDA, a Community School Teacher at Chimwansa Community School in Kabanana area sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the University Teaching Hospital.
Police Deputy Police Public Relations Officer DANNY MWALE says the incident occurred around 11:00 hours in Kabanana Compound yesterday.
Mr MWALE says officers from Zambia Police and Zambia Railways Police who rushed to the scene confirmed the incident.
He says Police investigations revealed that Mr. KAPENDA was walking along the railway line with headsets listening to music from his cellphone and could not hear the Train honking.
Headsets and a cellphone were found at the scene of the accident.
Mr MWALE says the body is in the UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem and police have opened an inquiry file.
