Former Finance Minister NGANDU MAGANDE has died at the age of 76.

Mr. MAGANDE died last night at the MAINA SOKO Military Hospital in Lusaka due to liver complications.

Family Spokesperson MUTINTA MAGANDE has told ZNBC News that the family has lost a mentor and a pillar.

Mr. MAGANDE, who is the son to the late former Minister, says his father’s contribution to the writing off of the national debt in the MMD administration was his greatest contribution to the nation.

He has thanked government for the support rendered to Mr. MAGANDE during his illness until his demise.

Mr. MAGANDE says funeral gathering is being held at the family house in Lilayi area of Lusaka.

The Former Minister of Finance also served as Chilanga Member of Parliament, Permanent Secretary in various Ministries and contested the 2011 Presidential elections on the National Movement for Progress ticket.
