Lusaka will experience reduced water supply for 60 days starting on Thursday this week following a shutdown of the Iolanda One Water Treatment Plant in Kafue District.

Water Development Minister MIKE MPOSHA says residential areas in Lusaka will see reduced hours of water supply as the Lusaka Water and Sanitation Company performs maintenance works at the Treatment Plant.

Mr. MPOSHA says the 60 day shut down has been necessitated by the leakages at the Iolanda One Plant where ten thousand litres of water is lost per day.

Speaking when he delivered a Ministerial Statement in Parliament this afternoon, Mr. MPOSHA said the repair works will seek to stop the leakages which have been going on for many years.

Mr. MPOSHA told the house that the pipeline was built in 1970 and over the decades, it has developed leakages which have necessitated the maintenance.
