Local Government Permanent Secretary for Technical Services NICHOLAS PHIRI says effective Sunday 10 th September 2023, street vendors found selling on the streets of Lusaka’s Central Business District – CBD- will be prosecuted.
This follows the slow return of some vendors around Findeco house and COMESA areas.
The Permanent Secretary says vendors must not take advantage of the reduced council police presence on the streets of the CBD to return illegally.
Mr. PHIRI says lack of council officers patrolling in the CBD, has not been effective due to limited human resource by the local authority.
He has further emphasized that the government will not relax on undertaking the exercise to provide sanity in the CBD.
