In her statement of claim, Ms Bwale has stated that whilst in the company of two other friends, they went to hungry Lion outlet Manda Hill, to have a meal and she ordered chicken and chips.
Ms Bwale has stated that she was served the food as ordered, she noticed maggots in the food after starting to eat.
She has claimed that upon being ignored by Hungry Lion employees, she reported the matter to the Lusaka City Council and later to the Ministry of Health Food and Drugs control laboratory, who conducted laboratory tests on the food.
The complainant later stated that the existence of maggots in the food was confirmed by the results, after a foreign matter identification and bacteriological analysis, was performed.
Ms Bwale has alleged that because of eating the food, she experienced a running stomach for 4 days, was nauseated for 2 weeks and generally fell ill for 2 months.
