Livingstone has recorded an increase in new HIV infections this year.

The Livingstone University Teaching Hospital has recorded 160 new HIV infections from January to October this year compared to 137 cases recorded in the same period last.

Hospital Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, JOSEPH MULENGA told ZNBC News that 3,263 people have been tested for HIV at the facility from January to October this year.

Mr. MULENGA said the number of new infections is mainly in adolescents.

He said social outdoor activities are among factors leading to the rise in HIV cases among adolescents in Livingstone.
