The Kitwe and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry has described the 2024 national as a good one.
Chamber President EMMANUEL MBAMBIKO says the announcement by the Finance Minister that government will reduce domestic borrowing in the 2024 National budget from 5 to 4 percent is a huge game changer for the economy.
Mr. MBAMBIKO says with reduced government borrowing the expectation is that there will be a release of liquidity in the banking sector.
He says with this move, it is likely that banks may reduce their lending rates and in turn this will stimulate business.
Mr. MBAMBIKO has told ZNBC News that many people that want to grow their businesses fail to do so because of the high cost of borrowing.
The Livingstone Tourism Association -LTA- says tour operators are happy with the pronouncements made by Finance and National Planning Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE in the 2024 proposed budget as far as tourism is concerned.
LTA Honorary Board Member, HILARY KASHEMPA says the emphasis on tourism infrastructure development and marketing is what the tourism sector needs to increase tourist arrivals.
He says the UPND government has been consistent in funding marketing in the tourism sector and that it is pleasing that the amounts keep increasing each year.
Mr. KASHEMPA has told ZNBC news in an interview the combination of what was pronounced in the 2023 budget and the 2024 budget will no doubt spar the growth of tourism.
He says the association is looking forward to a speedy implementation of the 2024 budget that will see a full recovery of the tourism sector from the COVID-19 Effects.
