Kenya’s KARAN PATEL outdrove everyone to win the 2023 Zambia International Rally championship held in Lusaka at the weekend.

PATEL navigated by compatriot TAUSEEF KHAN in a Ford Fiesta R5 took a one second lead over defending champion LEROY GOMES and his wife URSHLLA on Saturday.

On Sunday the competition was looking evenly poised before Leroy crashed out of the competition after hitting into a stamp.

With LEROY out, the competition was now between KARAN and JAS MANGAT of Uganda.

The Kenyan eventually pushed hard to win the competition by 1 minute and 53 seconds to lead the African Rally Championship – ARC- Series.

KYLE LATIFE of Ndola, navigated by his wife BALVEEN, emerged as champion among local drivers.

The Championship attracted 6 foreign and 10 Zambian crews.

In a post-event interview, KARAN, who admitted getting pressure from LEROY, expressed happiness that he is leading on the ARC series.
