Life Gospel Ministries International overseer JOSEPH KAZHILA has requested Vedanta, the Konkola Copper Mines Investor, to prioritize employing local people as the mine revives operations.

Bishop KAZHILA has also asked Zambians and Politicians to put emotions aside and desist from making careless statements on the governance of the country.

The Bishop was speaking in Chingola during a thanksgiving service which was attended by Copperbelt Minister Elisha MATAMBO and Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE.

And speaking on behalf of Church Ministersโ€™ Fellowship, Reverend EDWIN SIMASIKU said the church will not only pray for the government but be a watchdog as well.

He said the church wants to see a better Vedanta which will improve the lives of the people.

And Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia -EFZ- Chingola District chairman, Bishop RICKY KAMWANGA thanked the government for the long awaited decision to unlock KCM by bringing back Vedanta.

Meanwhile, Council of Churches in Zambia representative Bishop CADY NGโ€™AMBI thanked President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for his boldness and delivering what the church had requested.

And Chililabombwe Bread of Life Pastor EMMANUEL MUNDIA said Vedanta should use the opportunity to build a new picture for Chingola and Chililabombwe.

And Mines Minister Paul KABUSWE advised against people listening to doomsayers over the return of Vedanta.

He said arriving at the decision to bring back Vedanta was not easy but that President HICHILEMA wanted a people-centered deal which has been delivered.

Meanwhile, Copperbelt Minister Elisha MATAMBO said he will stand with the people of the Copperbelt to ensure Vedanta fulfills its obligations.
