Presidential Advisor on Economic, Investment and Development Affairs JITO KAYUMBA says there is a need to provide tax incentives on importation of raw materials to support the growth of local investments.

Mr. KAYUMBA said local business are facing challenges in expanding businesses because of certain constraints such as taxes on importation of raw materials.

Speaking when he toured some firms in Chipata District of Eastern Province, Mr. KAYUMBA also noted the need to increase funding to the Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission -CEEC- in order for the commission to support more enterprises.

He said the commission has a budget deficit of about 30 billion Kwacha to support local enterprises.

Mr. KAYUMBA is in Eastern Province to check on Government funded projects.
