The Northern Province Administration has tasked the Kasama Municipal Council to open the Inter-town bus station by October this year.
Provincial Permanent Secretary Charles Sipanje says one million Kwacha has been secured towards the completion of the remaining critical works so that the facility can be partially opened before the next rainy season.
Mr Sipanje explained that other works on the project will be completed through the revenue which will be generated once the station is operationalized.
The Permanent Secretary has since directed the local authority to closely supervise the project and ensure that is opened without any further delay.
And Kasama Town Clerk Zakeyo Mbao assured government and the general public that the council will work towards completing the remaining components of the facility.
The two said this in an interview with ZANIS in Kasama after inspecting the project.
