The Kariba Border Post has been suspended for use as a port of entry for cross border passenger buses and vehicles transiting through Zambia into Zimbabwe and other countries in Southern Africa.
Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- Corporate Communications Manager OLIVER NZALA says the traveling public are required to use the Victoria Falls Border Post, Chirundu and Kazungula One Stop Border Posts as alternative routes.
Mr. NZALA has said in an interview with ZNBC News that the suspension is with effect from Thursday 20 July 2023 until further notice.
He said the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority -ZIMRA- has indicated that the decision comes in the wake of high traffic congestion being experienced at the Kariba Border Post which has stretched the current infrastructure beyond its capacity to handle cross border traffic.
Mr. NZALA said clearing agents with bills of entry registered before the suspension should report to the Station Management at both entry and exit ports to facilitate diversion procedures.
He said diversion fees in respect of the affected transactions will accordingly be waived.
