Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE says there is need to depoliticize business in the mining sector.
Mr. KABUSWE says Local suppliers and Contractors should be competent for business in a fair and balanced manner.
He says it is sad that in the past some people were denied businesses in the Mines on account of their political affiliation.
The Minister said this when he addressed Contractors and Suppliers on the Copperbelt.
Speaking at the same event Association of Suppliers and Contractors President COSTA MWABA urged government to protect his members.
Mr. MWABA also complained that his members are not benefiting from contracts and other business opportunities from mining companies in North Western Province.
Meanwhile a representative from Mufulira Chamber of Commerce and Industry LUCKY NJOVU urged government to come up with a law that will compel Mines to give business to Zambians companies.
