The Lusaka Stock Exchange has challenged insurance industries to invest in capital markets as part of efforts to boost Zambia’s economy.

Chief Executive Officer PHILLIP CHITALU says this will supplement the insurance Industries’ business lines in an endeavour to further raise their profits.

Mr. CHITALU was speaking in LUSAKA during the Insurance Brokers Association of Zambia Fundraising Dinner.

And Pensions and Insurance Authority -PIA- Acting Registrar NAMAKAU NTINI said insurance brokers’ business in the country has registered growth.

Mrs. NTINI said insurance brokers’ contribution to the insurance Industries’ financial profile currently stands at 41 percent.

Meanwhile, Insurance Brokers Association of Zambia –IBAZ- President HUMPHREY KABWE urged government to take a lead in buying insurance products to guard against loss of revenues and properties as a result of unforeseen risks.

Mr. KABWE said the purchase of insurance products by various stakeholders is key to the sustainability of the insurance industry.
