The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board -HELSB- has recovered about K409m from beneficiaries of student loans from 2018 to date.
ZANIS reports that the Board’s Chairperson GEOFFREY SAMUKONGA says 16,123 former students are paying back the loans.
Mr. SAMUKONGA disclosed this during the second quarter media breakfast and compliance certificate award ceremony in Lusaka.
And HELSB Chief Executive Officer, FLOYD NDABULULA said the board has awarded 40 compliance certificates to former student loan beneficiaries who have completed paying back their student loans.
Mr. NDABULULA urged all the beneficiaries to start paying back so that other students can also benefit from the scheme.
Meanwhile, a recipient of the compliance certificate MWEMBA KAPAMBWE called on former student loans beneficiaries to comply with the HELSB by paying off their loans.
