Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, CHIPOKA MULENGA has appealed to Lamasat Limited, NOT to lay off workers, after fire swept through the company’s warehouses last week.
Mr. MULENGA says government is well aware that over 600 workers have been affected; adding that his Ministry is working to ensure the situation gets back to normal.
He was speaking in Lusaka today, when he visited the gutted LAMASAT warehouse in Makeni area.
And Lamasat Chairperson, MOHAMMED AHMAD said the company is still scavenging what they can from the rubble.
Mr. AHMAD said the team is still taking count of the loss, adding that the production warehouse was not affected, only the storage warehouse, where raw materials and finished products are kept.
