Government says it is pursuing policies and programmes aimed at broadening access to education.
Ministry of Finance and National Planning Acting Permanent Secretary, LOIS MULUBE says education is a fundamental right for all children as it enables them to secure their rights to development and protection.
Ms MULUBE was speaking at a side event co-sponsored by Zambia and held on the margins of the High Level Political Forum at United Nations Headquarters.
And Ms. MULUBE said the government recognised that addressing the intergenerational cycle of poverty requires empowerment of women and girls.
And , Ministry of Finance and National Planning Acting Director – Development Planning Department, MWILA DAKA highlighted some transformative actions that have been implemented by the Government to ensure that no is left behind.
These include the World Bank funded Girls Education and Women’s Empowerment and Livelihoods (GEWEL) Project, which aims to increase access to livelihood support for extremely poor rural women and improve access to secondary education for disadvantaged girls identified from extremely poor households in selected districts.
This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Permanent Mission of Zambia to the United Nations, NAMATAMA NJEKWA.
