Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister CHIPOKA MULENGA says the government has taken steps to drive digital financial inclusion.
Mr. MULENGA says in the era of digital innovation, the government is ensuring that business transactions are redefined to empower citizens, especially cross border traders.
He said this in a speech read on his behalf by Livingstone Mayor, CONSTANCE MULEABAI, at the launch of the cross border prepaid cards.
And, COMESA Business Council-CBC Chief Executive Officer, TEDDY SOOBRAMANIEN said beyond the facilitation of cross-border payments, the cards will empower traders with access to cash through ATMs, enable them to trade, and facilitate seamless online transac
ions.
And, Bank of Zambia Deputy Governor – Operations FRANCIS CHIPIMO said as the country continues to migrate customers towards digital technologies.
The deputy governor was represented at the event by Bank of Zambia Director-Payment Systems, MIRIAM KAMUHUZA.
