govt-puts-measures-to-produce-animal-vaccines-locally-~

Livestock and Fisheries Minister MAKOZO CHIKOTE says the government has put in place logistics to ensure livestock vaccines are produced locally and not imported.

Mr CHIKOTE says the measure is to ensure the government is able to control contiguous animal diseases on time as they are posing a threat to the production and productivity of the livestock sub sector.

He says the government is also looking at establishing and expanding the Central Veterinary Research Institute to ensure diseases such as foot and mouth disease and contagious bovine pleuropneumonia disease are controlled.

Mr CHIKOTE said this will also allow the production and productivity in the livestock sub sector.

Mr CHIKOTE said this in an interview with ZANIS in Namwala District.

Meanwhile, Mr CHIKOTE said the anthrax outbreak in Sinazongwe District has been put under control.

He said the quick response by extension officers to sensitise the people helped to contain the outbreak in Sinazongwe which had spread to the people.
