Government has undertaken to increase maize production in the country ,using state farms owned by ZAMBIA National Service -ZNS and other defence wings in a bid to heighten mealie meal supply.
Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA says abundant supply of mealie meal would lead to the stabilisation of the price of the commodity on the local market.
Mr.LUFUMA also says the situation would enable the country to export excess mealie meal.
He was speaking in an interview with Journalists in CHILANGA last evening.
Mr.LUFUMA said so the mealie meal being supplied by ZNS is giving relief to some ZAMBIANS as it is cheaper than other brands on the market.
He said ZNS is committed to offloading more mealie meal on the market.
