The Ministry of Health has launched the Human Papilloma Virus -HPV- multi age cohort vaccination campaign.
Acting Health Minister CHARLES MILUPI says the campaign will focus on administering the Human Papilloma vaccine to girls aged 9 to 14 years.
Mr. MILUPI says this is a significant step towards prevention of cervical cancer in Zambia.
He says the exercise will be conducted from September 25th to 30th, 2023.
Speaking during a media briefing, Mr. MILUPI said the Government is lowering the age of eligibility for HPV vaccines to as early as 9 years to offer more opportunities to reach all the girls with the service before they become sexually active.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Health Cancer Focal Point Person PAUL KAMFWA said the ministry is compiling a list for patients that require radiotherapy because machines are currently down at the Cancer Diseases hospital.
