govt-controlling-officers-advised-to-endeavor-getting-zero-audits
Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa has advised Government ministries and provincial administrations to endeavor getting zero audit queries as has been demonstrated by some in the Auditor General’s report for the financial year ended 2022.
Speaking at a meeting for permanent secretaries and other controlling officers to celebrate improvements in the 2022 auditor general’s report; Mr. Kangwa said there is need to render the Public Accounts Committee irrelevant by ensuring all government ministries and Provincial administrations achieve zero audits.
Mr. Kangwa has since advised controlling officers that recorded zero audit queries not to relax but maintain the trend while those with queries should learn from their counterparts.
The number of government ministries and provincial administrations that recorded zero audit queries doubled from 7 in 2021 to 14 in the 2022 auditor general’s report.
And Acting Secretary to the Treasury Danies Chisenda has advised government controlling officers to implement recommendations in the 2022 auditor general’s report if they are to continue recording zero audit queries.
