Minister in the Office of the Vice President Olipa Phiri has called on the corporate world to partner with government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Ms. Phiri says government alone cannot fight the pandemic and needs stakeholder support.
The minister was speaking when she received a donation of Ethanol sanitizer sprays from three Chinese companies at the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit – DMMU offices in Lusaka today.
She said a risk assessment conducted by DMMU and the Ministry of Health revealed that a total of 22 districts are hotspots of COVID 19 being border towns and towns with international airports.
Ms Phiri said to this effect government has activated its multi sectoral response mechanism in order to respond to the threat.
And, Zhongkai International Managing Director Chen Gui Ping said the donation of the sanitizers will help address the high prices of the commodity by some companies in the wake of the COVID 19.
He said the sanitizers will be distributed to Zambia in rural communities.
Meanwhile, ARU Industries Limited Marketing Manager Umesh Kumar said the company is ready to partner with government to ensure that there are readily available hand sanitizers on the market at affordable prices.
