govt-advised-to-listen-more-to-people-and-avoid-being-reactive
University of Zambia Historian Eustone Chiputa has advised the ruling UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema to avoid falling into a trap where they listen less to people and become more reactive.
Dr. Chiputa says the ruling party should not wait until 2026 to start listening to what people are saying as this risks their continued stay in office as was the case with the patriotic front in 2021.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Dr. Chiputa notes that there are several statements coming from the ruling party and its leadership that indicate failure to listen to citizens who voted them into office, which Zambians abhor.
He says good leadership is about listening to the people rather than being reactive as is the case where people are being suppressed.
