Lusaka Resident Magistrate SYLVIA MUNYINYA has ordered fresh plea in a matter where Former Zambia Revenue Authority Commissioner General KINGSLEY CHANDA and former Director of Administration, CALLISTUS KAOMA are charged with 21 counts of abuse of Authority office .
Magistrate MUNYINYA has also ordered the prosecution to produce before her a new consent from Director of Public Prosecution GILBERT PHIRI to prosecute the matter.
The Magistrate made the orders this afternoon after she granted an application by defense Lawyer JAMES MATALIRO to amend the indictment as the charge sheet had duplicity of the counts.
Magistrate MUNYINYA has since set July 26th for Mr. CHANDA and Mr. KAOMA to possibly retake plea.
Mr. CHANDA and Mr. KAOMA had earlier this afternoon pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mr. CHANDA and Mr. KAOMA are jointly charged with abuse of authority of office and Willful failure to comply with the Law and applicable procedure contrary to the law.
They allegedly failed to comply with the law and applicable procedure in relation to the disposal of 22 Zambia Revenue Authorityโs used motor vehicles between January 1 and December 31 2020.
