The Food Reserve Agency – FRA- has this month sold 31,000 metric tonnes of non-genetically modified white grade maize to the Zambia National Service (ZNS).
FRA Public Relations Coordinator JOHN CHIPANDWE says the move is aimed at stabilizing mealie meal prices and making the commodity readily available on the local market.
In an interview with ZNBC news in Lusaka, Mr CHIPANDWE says FRA has an arrangement with ZNS to supply maize to the military wing for three months subject to review in December 2023.
He further said the Agency is optimistic that this intervention among others will help in stabilizing mealie meal prices in the country.
