Over 1.9 billion Kwacha has been paid out to farmers that delivered white maize during this year’s crop-marketing season.

FRA Public Relations Coordinator JOHN CHIPANDWE says so far the agency has bought over 343,000 metric tonnes of maize.

Mr. CHIPANDWE, however, says following the Agency’s decision to start paying cash on the spot to farmers that supply maize, over 1,700 metric tonnes has been purchased.

He says this translated into the cash on the spot payment of 10,058,720 Kwacha.

Mr CHIPANDWE told ZNBC News that the agency is still buying maize from farmers.
