The Food Reserve Agency -FRA- in North-Western Province has purchased 727,915 bags by 50-kilogram bags of maize.

The purchase translates into 36,395.75 metric tonnes of maize out of the over 225,000 metric tonnes the agency targets to buy in the region.

Speaking when Permanent Secretary Special Duties at Cabinet Office, NAOMI TETAMASHIMBA, called on him, North-Western Province Permanent Secretary, GRANDSON KATAMBI, said efforts are being made to double the target.

And Ms. TETAMASHIMBA, who is in the province for a fact-finding mission, said there is need for the government and FRA to change the strategy which is currently being used during the marketing season.

She said the change of strategy will make the country remain food secure.
