Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Technical Services KENNEDY LISHIMPI says at least eighty percent of blindness in Zambia is avoidable.
Speaking when he officially opened an eye clinic at Mtendere Mission Hospital in Chirundu, Southern Province, Dr. LISHIMPI said this is why government is working with partners to increase access to eye care services in all hospitals across the country.
The eye clinic at Mtendere Mission hospital has been established by One Sight foundation at a cost of two million Kwacha.
Meanwhile Chirundu District Health Director Dr .HEBERT LUHANGA says there is a high demand for eye care services in the district and has appreciated the establishment of facility.
