The Zambian government with support from the European Union Aviation Sector Support Programme has developed an air traffic management road map aimed at implementing the air traffic master plan.

Southern Province Permanent Secretary, NAMANI MONZE says the road map will help the country establish a robust and competitive air transport and communications network.

Dr. MONZE has stated that it is cardinal for African Countries to work together in delivering responsive air traffic management that will ensure that civil aviation is effective and efficient.

He said this in a speech read on his behalf by Southern Province Assistant Secretary, EDSON NACHIMWENDA, during the official opening of the 2023 Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation -CANSO- Conference in Livingstone.

Speaking at the same event, CANSO Director General, SIMON HOCQUARD said as traffic and passenger numbers begin to rise again post Covid, it is important for African Countries to leverage technologies that will enable them to get ready for challenges.

And Zambia Airports Corporation Limited Acting Managing Director, MAGGIE KAUNDA urged air navigation service providers to strengthen capacity to lead in aviation safety and security.
