The European Union -EU- and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa -COMESA have signed a 40 million financing agreement for trade competitiveness and market access program.
Speaking when she presented her credentials to COMESA Secretary General CHILESHE KAPWEPWE EU Special Representative to Zambia KARONLINA STASIAK called for fair trade in view of global challenges being experienced.
Ms. STASIAK noted the need for countries to green their economies through making local, regional and global value chains more circular and significantly reduce the negative impact of the economies on the climate.
And Ms. KAPWEPWE emphasized that the financing agreement is timely and an important step in the cooperation’s effort as it prepares for a more cohesive approach to COMESA programs.
Ms. KAPWEPWE said the EU remains COMESA’s biggest development partner especially its support in regional integration efforts.
