Eastern Province Minister PETER PHIRI has commissioned the first ever Secondary School in Chieftainess MWAPE’s area in Nyimba district with the call on stakeholders to actively participate in infrastructure development.

Mr. PHIRI says stakeholders such as Nyimba Foundation and Nyamvu Safaris should continue supplementing government efforts to eliminate poverty.

He says the construction of Kalongo Mwape Secondary School by the Foundation will enable the children in Mwape chiefdom to complete secondary education within the area.

And Nyimba Foundation Director SUKAINA PATEL says the school project that cost close to 2.2-million kwacha is aimed at improving the livelihood of the people in the area.

Ms. PATEL says the foundation is undertaking several developmental projects in the area.

Meanwhile, Chieftainess MWAPE has appealed to her subjects to take advantage of the secondary school to educate their children.

And Nyimba Member of Parliament MENYANI ZULU has urged the government to put a bridge across Mvuvye river and improve mobile network in the area.
