Micro Finance Zambia Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with USAID and Radian Stores that will see the public access environmentally friendly cooking equipment to promote clean energy.
Speaking at the signing of the MoU, Micro Finance Zambia Director of the Board SYDNEY CHISENGA says the facility will help address deforestation.
And USAID Alternatives to Charcoal Project, Chief of Party CATHERINE PICARD said the organisation intends to reduce urban consumption of charcoal by at least 25 percent by 2026.
And Energy Minister PETER KAPALA pledged support to such initiatives.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Ministry’s Director of Energy, ARNOLD SIMWABA, Mr KAPALA said access to clean sources of energy is critical to environmental protection.
