Energy Minister Peter Kapala says the imminent introduction of blended fuels this month is expected to significantly mitigate the soaring costs of fuel in the country.
Mr. Kapala has told Phoenix News in an interview that the immediate action to mitigate the fuel price surge involves blending fuels with ethanol to bolster the fuel reserves within Zambia, thereby reducing the country’s dependence on imported unleaded petrol.
Mr Kapala is optimistic that this move will help stabilize fuel prices and consequently, alleviate the economic burden on citizens.
He has also disclosed that his ministry will this month invite private sector bidders to participate in the transportation of diesel through pipeline to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the distribution of petroleum products, ultimately benefiting consumers by reducing fuel prices.
