Zambian midfield ace Emmanuel Banda believes he will be a big help to his Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgadens IF in their remaining eight games of the season as they push for their title defense after returning to training yesterday following an injury lay off.

Banda sustained an injury back in August in a UEFA Champions League first qualifying round against Ferencvaros of Hungary which saw him miss eight matches in nearly two months. The injury meant the Zambian only had less than 20 minutes of action in his UEFA Champions League debut and he wants to make a return next season.

The Stockholm based outfit lie 6th position with 33 points on the table from 22 games played trailing league leaders Malmo FF who have 47 points from 23 games they have played whom they have a date with on Monday in a week 24 fixture with the hope of reducing the points deficit to 11.

With the remaining 8 games to play, I am very hopeful we will do wonders and play next seasons UEFA champions league, I am really happy to get back on track after the injury and am very optimistic that my presence will change the scope of the team in the 8 games remaining,” Banda told the ZamFoot Crew in an exclusive interview.

“Football is very unpredictable, I know people will say the points difference is just too much between us and the log leaders but hey! this is football where everything is possible and I can I assure everyone that we will mount a strong challenge to catch log leaders,” he added.

Banda has also expressed his desire of playing for top European teams and believes this can only be possible by participating in Europes top competitions which provide great exposure for players.

I want to play for other European big teams apart from Djurgardens, I know this comes with extra effort and I must say am happy that am now injury-free ready to put in my level best with the hope of securing a move to other top European clubs and I must also mention that am very happy been at this great club, I will give this club all I can for the faith they have entrusted in me, he said.

The number of teams that each association enters into the UEFA champions league and Europa league is based upon the UEFA coefficients of the member associated with the top four-member club association being English premier league, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A all sending 4 teams to UEFA champions league and 3 teams to UEFA Europa.

The coefficients of each member association are calculated on how teams from each member association perform in the competition.UEFAs coefficient system is a set of numerical ratings given to each of its member associations and the clubs competing in its competition which are ratings used for deciding how many teams each member association will send in UEFA competitions and how teams will be seeded in certain draws.

The Swedish league is ranked 22nd by UEFA meaning the winner qualifies for the UEFA champions league first round qualification stage and 2nd to 4th placed teams will qualify for the UEFA Europa conference league a third-tier UEFA club competition with member associations occupying a 1st-5th position on the UEFA league rankings each sending 1 team, 6-15 sending 2 teams to the competition and 16-50 member associations sending each 3 teams with the eventual winner of the competition qualifying for UEFA Europa League group stage, a long path which Emmanuel Banda wants his team to avoid by emerging champions again in the Swedish premier league.
