The Zambia Police Service is concerned with the increase in the number of accidents involving motor cyclists in the Eastern Province.

Fifteen riders and six passengers were among 21 people who died in accidents that happened between July and September in the province this year .

The Police have since embarked on a massive road safety awareness programme targeting riders in the region.

Zambia Police Service Road Safety Awareness and Education Coordinator PAUL SILOKA appealed to stakeholders to be involved in raising road safety awareness.

Mr SILOKA appealed to riders to comply with road safety regulations.

And Katete Town Council Chairperson FANUEL CHAMA said the local authority will join hands with the police in sensitizing riders in the district.

Meanwhile, one of the riders’ EDWARD CHIRWA appealed to the Police to strengthen traffic regulations.
