The availability of essential drugs in hospitals in eastern province has improved.

Provincial Health Director MATHEW NG’AMBI says the availability of essential drugs in the health facilities now stands at 88 percent.

Dr. NG’AMBI says the province has received 974 health centre kits for 337 health facilities.

He says the availability of drugs has brought relief to health facilities but warned health staff against pilferage.

And a member of the Chimvano neighbourhood health committee in Chipata’s Msekera area CHRISTINE PHIRI says there is an improvement in the drug availability in health facilities in the district.

Ms. PHIRI says in the past people were mostly being given prescriptions to buy drugs.
