Africa and World Under 20 Draughts Championship WILLIAM CHINZEWE is expected to miss the 2024 Senior World Championships scheduled for Saint Petersburg Germany.
Zambia Draughts Federation -ZDF- General Secretary RAPHAEL PHIRI says the 17 year old will miss out on a chance to challenge for the world title as the competition will coincide with his examination calendar.
PHIRI says by the time the world championships will be in full swing the continent’s youngest Grandmaster will be seated for his grade 12 examinations, ruling him out of the race for the world title.
He has told ZNBC Sports News in an interview that the Federation will now have to start looking at other players that will step up for the country his in absence.
PHIRI said if there was a chance of exempting the player from Examinations it would have been nice but this is non negotiable.
