The Health Professions Council of Zambia -HPCZ- says there is need to double up recruitment of health workers as the current numbers are not enough to attain universal health coverage.
HPCZ Registrar, FASTONE GOMA says currently the country has a deficit of about 80-thousand health workers
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka, Professor GOMA has also announced that the council is set to hold the second Licentiate Examinations, starting next Monday, September 18, 2023.
Professor GOMA said out of 3,541 applicants for the examinations, 12 applicants were unsuccessful, due to various reasons.
AND Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO said the continuous recruitment which government has embarked on will help in cushioning the deficit of health workers.
