A thirty three year old Police officer of Livingstone has been arrested for allegedly raping a sixteen year old girl who was held in police cells for misconduct.
Police Assistant Public Relations Officer GODFREY CHILABI, who confirmed the arrest to ZNBC news in a telephone interview, said the suspect is in custody while investigations are underway.
The girl is alleged to have been taken to Dambwa North Police Post to be disciplined because she had a tendency of going home late after school.
The named officer who was found on duty at the time the girl was detained later forced himself on her in the cells.
After being released from the cells the following morning the girl reported the matter to her elder sister who took her to Dambwa North Clinic to seek treatment where they were referred to Dambwa North Police for a medical report.
