Construction of the 25 megawatts Ilute Solar Power Plant in Sesheke District of Western Province is expected to start in January next year.

This follows the signing of an Implementation Agreement between GreenCo Power Services and the Zambians government through the Ministry of Energy.

GreenCo Power Services Head of Business Development WEZI GONDWE says the project is expected to start operations a year after groundbreaking.

Speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka this morning, Mr. GONDWE said the agreement paves way for GreenCo to fully implement its various projects countrywide.

Mr. GONDWE said the signing of the Implementation Agreement coincides with the Africa Climate Summit which has opened in Kenya today and in preparation for the forthcoming Conference of Parties -COP28 to be hosted in the United Arab Emirates.
