Some civic leaders have applauded President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for the assurance on improving conditions of Service for councilors.
Kalingalinga Ward Councillor MUKUBESA NYONI says for a long time the conditions of service for the civic leaders have been neglected.
Mr. NYONI has told ZNBC News that the assurance by the President has given hope to councilors that their plight will be addressed.
He says councilors are critical as they provide a link between the people in the community and government.
Chakunkula Ward Councillor NJOMONA CHIMUKA says civic leaders will feel motivated once their working conditions are improved.
He says councilors are important in the implementation of the decentralization policy.
Meanwhile, Kalikiliki Ward Councillor SHADRECK CHIMWANGA says councillors are important in communicating the government’s developmental agenda to the grassroot.
Mr. CHIMWANGA has commended President HICHILEMA for showing commitment in enhancing the conditions of service for councillors.
In his address to the National Assembly, President HICHILEMA assured that the government is working towards improving the remuneration for all Councilors countrywide to strengthen the decentralization policy.
