The Catholic Church on Chilubi Island has called for violent free campaigns in the run up to the October 22nd, 2020, Council Chairperson by-election.
Santa Maria Parish Priest Patrick Kateule says elections should not divide Chilubi and that people should be allowed to peacefully vote for a candidate of their choice.
And, Muchinshi Parish Priest Father George Musaba says the Catholic Church will continue working with the government of the day in fostering development to the people.
The duo was speaking when PF Chilubi campaign team led by campaign manager Chitalu Chilufya paid a courtesy call on them at Santa Maria Parish.
The team was in the area to drum up support for the ruling party’s candidate Rosemary Chimbini ahead of the By-election slated for Thursday.
And Dr. Chilufya assured the Catholic Church that government appreciates the long-standing relationship with them.
Earlier, Northern Province PF Chairperson Chungu Bwalya asked the Church to pray for leaders and the nation.
