chipolopolo-off-to-uae-for-fifa-friendlies

A contingent of 11 Chipolopolo players and technical staff yesterday left for the United Arab Emirates for international friendly matches to be played in Dubai.

The eleven consists of the ten local players summoned and China based Evans Kangwa.

The local contingent will team up with the foreign based stars in Dubai for the October 12 international friendly match against Egypt.

Zambia will then face Uganda on October 17 in the final international friendly match of the FIFA window.

The team will be without the injured trio of Lawrence Mulenga (Power Dynamos), Lameck Banda (Lecce) and Frankie Musonda (Ayr United).

Striker Fashion Sakala makes a return to the Chipolopolo set up after missing out on the final Group H Africa Cup of Nations qualifier Comoros due to suspension.

Coach Avram Grant has summoned 25 players for duty as part of preparations for the November FIFA World Cup qualifiers that will see Zambia face Congo Brazzaville and Niger.

Grant is also treating the qualifiers as a build up for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that will be played in Ivory Coast in January.

Draws for the Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Abidjan on October 12.
