The desk deficit in Chipata is set to reduce following the procurement of desks under the Constituency Development Fund -CDF- and desk rehabilitation programme being implemented by the Eastern Province Education office.

Over 2-thousand desks have been refurbished at Chipata Trades Training Institute while others are being rehabilitated in three other centres in the province.

Chipata District Commissioner ELIDA BANDA says the provision of desks will enhance learning and teaching in schools.

Ms. BANDA who flagged off the distribution of desks to Magwero special school, Chipata Primary School and Hope Campus Primary School appealed to head teachers to take care of the desks that were procured at a great cost.

And Eastern Province Education Officer BRAINLEY MALAMBO says the province is on course in achieving the presidential directive of ensuring that no pupil sits on the floor while learning.

Meanwhile Chipata Trades Principal MIRRIAM MWALE says the institution will not compromise on the standards.
