Chipangali Town Council has penalized one mining company for breaching safety regulations at the mine.
Kuma mining company, which is mining granite, was penalised for not having a dust emission report among other breaches.
This came to light during a full council meeting.
And Council Chairperson MAXSON NKHOMA said the local authority has engaged all the mining companies in the district on the need to undertake social corporate responsibility.
Earlier Kasenga Ward Councillor KENNEDY SAKALA said the mining companies should pay attention to the safety of the workers.
During the same meeting, the Council Chairperson urged civic leaders to continue raising awareness on the Constituency Development Fund.
