Chingola District Commissioner RAPHAEL CHIMUMPI has appealed to Vedanta to ensure that it honours its obligations as it takes over Konkola Copper Mine -KCM.

Mr. CHIMUMPI says people in the area are happy with the coming back of Vedanta as it will contribute to the promotion of economic activities in the district.

He has urged the community to give maximum support to the investor.

Mr. CHIMUMPI said this when he addressed Chingola residents after they conducted a solidarity match to thank President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s decision to unlock KCM.

During the Solidarity match the residents were led by UPND Members in Chingola District.

Speaking at the same event, National Union for Mine and Allied Workers KCM Chairman, NCHIMUNYA MWEEMBA said the unions are hopeful that Vedanta will honour the pledges which it has made to the public.

He said workers at KCM are looking forward to improved conditions of service.

AND UPND Chingola Constituency Chairman SCRIVINER BWALYA said the coming back of Vedanta will contribute to job creation.

He said President HICHILEMA has scored in many areas including mining and education sectors.

And speaking on behalf of Suppliers and Contractors ,MARTIN SIMWAWA said suppliers are hopeful that they will start receiving their payments from KCM soon.
