Zambia has finished in 7th out of 13 countries participating at the just ended African youth Chess Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

Despite making giant strides in the remaining rounds, losses on the final day saw Zambia fail to make it on the medals count.

Hosts Egypt have been crowned champions, after finishing first with a total of 24 medals in 6 categories.

In second position was Kenya on 79 points while Uganda was in third position on 23 points.

And Zambia’s only hope for a medal was through TUMELO LWENYEKA who unfortunately finished on 6 out of 9 points and eventually dropped out of the medal count.
